Oscilloscope · VST3 · AU

See every transient. An oscilloscope with frequency layers and sidechain — at zero latency.

NopeScope in Spectral mode: a drum loop split into low, mid and high frequency layers
Wave · Spectral

One signal, two views.

Wave shows the complete waveform. Spectral splits the same signal into low, mid and high bands.

NopeScope in Wave mode: the waveform of a drum loop NopeScope in Spectral mode: the same loop in three frequency layers
Lowbelow 250 Hz
Kick, bass and sub. See where the low end piles up.
Mid250 Hz – 3 kHz
Snare body, vocals, harmony and the core energy of the mix.
Highabove 3 kHz
Hats, attacks and air — what makes transients readable.

Hide the layers you don’t need to follow a single band.

Sidechain

Two signals, one timeline.

Route a second signal to the sidechain — a kick, for example — and compare its timing and shape with your main signal.

NopeScope in Overlay layout: an 808 and a sidechained kick drawn on top of each other NopeScope in Split layout: an 808 and a sidechained kick in separate lanes
OverlayOn top of each other
Your signal and the sidechain share the same axes and scale. See at a glance whether the kick lines up with the 808 and where ducking kicks in.
SplitIn separate lanes
Each signal gets its own lane while the timeline stays shared. For material where overlapping shapes are hard to read.

Sidechain comparison is available in Wave mode.

Freeze · Hold · Reset

Freeze and compare passes.

Freeze the graph to study the detail, compare it with the previous pass or start over.

NopeScope with Hold on: the previous pass stays dimly behind the current one
Freeze
Stops the graph without touching the audio. Unfreezing starts a new pass.
Hold
Keeps the previous pass as a dim trace behind the current one — ideal for comparing repeats.
Reset
Clears the capture, the held pass and retained meter values.
Time window

A time window for any material.

A short window for a single transient. A long one for envelopes, repeats and timing.

Tempo

Bar-based windows in sync with the DAW. Each pass restarts with playback or a seek.

Live

Capture ignores the transport and keeps running while the DAW is stopped. For live inputs and synths.

Scroll

History flows continuously across the display instead of redrawing inside a fixed window.

Input and display

Input, scale and range.

Choose the channel, the scale and the frequency range — and keep only what matters on screen.

01Input
Peak · L · R · M · S

Peak follows the louder channel and keeps its polarity. L and R isolate the channels, M shows what they share, S only the stereo difference.

02Gain
−24 … +24 dB

Scale the graph for quiet material or a hot master. Defaults to 0 dB and never changes the output or meter values.

03Range · Listen
20 Hz – 20 kHz

Narrow the visible frequency range and turn on Listen to audition only that region — before you reach for an EQ.

04Meter
Peak · RMS · Crest

Click the meter to cycle peak, average energy and the gap between them — a quick read on transient contrast.

Before you install

Short answers.

How much does NopeScope cost?

NopeScope is free — no trial period and no limitations. Download the installer for your system directly from this page.

Does NopeScope affect the sound?

No. NopeScope does not process audio or add latency. The one exception is band listening: while it is on, you hear only the selected frequency range.

How is NopeScope different from the scope in NopeRef?

It is the same scope as a standalone free plug-in. In NopeRef it also compares your signal against a reference and works alongside the reference library and seven other analyzers.

How do I connect a sidechain?

Route a send to the NopeScope sidechain input in your DAW, then turn on sidechain comparison in the plug-in. Comparison is available in Wave mode. Routing varies by DAW — see the documentation.

Is Spectral a spectrogram?

No. Spectral is still a scope: it splits the signal into low, mid and high bands and draws each as its own waveform.
